Supporters of the Hursley Hambledon Hunt will be delighted to hear that our fabulous Christmas Panto & Draw 2016 production of Cinderella raised a whopping £2,700 for Hunt funds! People were talking about this for weeks afterwards, not just within the HHH but amongst our neighbouring hunts. Thanks again to all who took part in making this event so successful.
We plan to hold another big Christmas event next year. It will be hard for another panto to beat this year’s, so we are working on another concept for 2017 and will be in touch, in plenty of time, so that you can book your tables.
The HHH point to point held at Larkhill was again a great success, with larger-than-ever entries and superb, high quality racing on yet another sunny, crisp December Sunday. The p2p committee did a fabulous job consolidating the event into what has become one of top early season meetings in the country.
At the beginning of the season, we restarted the Tumblers’ Club and plan to hold the END OF SEASON/TUMBLERS’ AWARD evening on Thursday 6th April. Please make sure that your tumble has been registered, and your £10 fee paid, as prizes will be awarded .... We are planning to invite a prominent local character as an after-dinner speaker. Everyone is very welcome to this ticket-only supper at one of our favourite HHH pubs. Details will follow shortly but please, for the time being, keep this date in your diary.
Over the hunting season we have been enjoying monthly visits to the country of the Wilton, New Forest and RA hunts for the inaugural Inter-hunt Skittles Tournament - it's been really well supported and a huge amount of fun. It’s also been a great opportunity to meet neighbouring supporters, countrymen, huntsmen and masters, and to work out that we’re all working towards a shared goal and experience the same highs and lows. When the HHH hosted in January there were over 70 players in total which made a fantastic evening. We normally have at least two teams and we’re hoping for rosettes, if not trophies, at the results evening.
Make sure to book your places at this year’s Hunt Ball on 3 March at Marwell Hotel. Contact N Williams.
Following the end of the season, we shall organise monthly POTM dinners at pubs across our country until the start of the next season. We shall send out dates in advance.
HHH Supporters Club AGM & Constitution
We are planning an Annual General Meeting in early March. Invitations will be sent out shortly together with a draft of the Club’s Constitution, updated slightly for 2017. The committee looks forward to presenting its report and financials. We also invite discussion and ideas from all current supporters about the direction and activities of the Supporters’ Club.
Supporters’ Club Subscriptions
Fundamentally, the Supporters’ Club exists to support the Hunt. Our Hunt – any hunt – needs to raise funds to help pay for ever-increasing expenses, from paying hunt staff to keeping hounds to maintaining property. For those who choose not to subscribe to the Hunt directly, whether foot followers or occasional visitors, the Supporters’ Club offers an important way of funding the Hursley Hambledon. These funds are critical to the survival of our Hunt.
The Supporters’ Club also aims to organise, or at least facilitate, events and initiatives that raise even more funds whist also bringing people together and marshalling support where the Hunt needs it.
We estimate that only about 40% of those who should pay, have paid this year’s fees. If you have not paid your subscriptions for 2016/7, please contact Gee Bastion or Sarah MacDonald. We can give a special deal on the remainder of this and next year’s fee combined.
For those who have paid up, please see Gee Bastian and get your membership cards.
EVENTS and HELP AT EVENTS
Please, if you have a good idea for a fund-raising event, don’t just suggest it, organise it! We need more people to organise more events. So, if you’d like to organise a Quiz night, or a BBQ or something else, please get in touch and we will do what we can to support you with communications, website, social media and help on the day. The SC now has TWO MARQUEES for use at social events, so let’s make use of them…
Enjoy the remainder of the Season, as we move to 3 days per week.
